US DJ TJR plans to test out his new single on a Scottish crowd – by playing it at this year’s Colourfest.

The 33-year-old – whose real name is Thomas Joseph Rozdilsky - is one of the big names who will take to the stage at the dance music event which takes place at Braehead Arena on Saturday, June 4.

He said: “I’m finishing up my next single which I’ll be testing at Colourfest.

“I heard many great things about Colourfest when I was touring last time so it was a festival I wanted to perform at.

“I’m thrilled beyond belief to be able to bring my vibe to this event. It’s going to be intense.”

He will no doubt be expecting a good reaction when he spins at the dance music event as he says the Scottish crowd is one of the rowdiest he has ever played for.

He beamed: “I love Scotland. It’s a beautiful country. The people are a passionate breed that love music.

“The shows I’ve played here have been some of the rowdiest I’ve ever played in my life.” He added: “The energy of the Scottish crowd is palpable. They are insane.

“Their energy gives me life and pushes me harder to give them all I have.

“I’ve never heard a crowd chant as loudly as them, I’m ready to go all out!”

Hailing from Connecticut, TJR started his career in 2004 and has since gone on to seal three Beatport number one’s including the popular Bounce Generation.

Djing, however, wasn’t a career TJR had always intended to pursue – as he originally wanted to be a golfer.

He said: “I still play, yes. But I play maybe four to five times a year.

“I really really love golf and it pains me not to play.

“And with golf, when you don’t practice, your game fades so it’s even more frustrating when you only play a few times a year.

“However, I still slash it around because I love it too much not to play.”

His Glasgow show might be the last time you see him for a while for the star is planning some time out from touring – to hit the studio.

He said: “I’m spending more time in the studio.

“I toured the most I ever had in 2015 but I didn’t put out enough music. It’s a struggle guys like myself who are DIY deal with so I’m going to tour less this year to make more music.”

He added: “That’s the life of a DJ who actually produces, mixes and masters. When we aren’t djing we are in the studio.”

Glasgow Times:

Unlike his contemporaries, TJR admits he still hasn’t figured out how to deal with the busy djiing schedule – but it is not something he begrudges because he loves the job so much.

He said: “I still haven’t figured it out lol. I’m always on an emotional rollercoaster. I love every second of this life but it’s hectic.”
