In a week that Tiësto was crowned the world’s most-travelled musician, having racked more than a million and a half air miles in a glittering 23-year career, the Bristol DJ Eats Everything lands in Glasgow straight off the back of a prestigious gig at Berlin’s Watergate. And while the Dutch EDM giant might be pulling in bigger numbers on SoundCloud and selling out enormo-gigs the world over, you have to wonder what the miles and the plays and the showmanship all count for when the real dance music heads and serious music critics see you as a laughing stock.

Eats Everything doesn’t need to worry about that. He arrives in Glasgow having just played at Watergate, a sweatbox on the banks of the River Spree that will be packed with some of the most discerning hipsters that Berlin has to offer. That’s on Saturday night into Sunday morning, then on Sunday night he’ll set about single-handedly taming the Sub Club. He’s on all night, meaning he has time to meander through techno, disco, boogie, house and everything in-between.

The Bristolian is riding the crest of a wave at the moment, with a brand new residency on Radio 1 and a healthy pipeline of festivals coming up in the summer. His self-described brand of “good music, questionable humour and a silly accent” has been a winner on the airwaves so far – get your excuses in for Monday morning early and get to the Subbie on Sunday to see it in the flesh.

Before that, the Mancunian grime MC Bugzy Malone warms up for a March show at London’s celebrated Fabric with an intimate Sub Club gig tonight. Credited with being at the forefront of an underground grime revival, and with an EP under his belt that knocked Beyoncé’s Lemonade off the top of the iTunes chart, the young wordsmith puts on a live show that is “pure energy.”

The chaos down on Jamaica Street continues into midweek, when I AM hosts a set by Optimo’s JD Twitch. This is a man with “an ear for music almost like no other,” the promoters gush, “able to find melodies that work together that most DJs wouldn’t dream of mixing together, let alone go for it while playing out… he truly is one of the greats in our eyes.” High praise indeed: see for yourself what all the fuss is about when the Glasgow legend is the special guest at Tuesday night’s blowout.

• Bugzy Malone, tonight, Sub Club, 9pm – 12am, sold out

• Eats Everything, Sunday, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, sold out

• I AM with JD Twitch, Tuesday, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, free before 11.30pm

Basement Jaxx

With their 2001 hit Where’s Your Head At, Basement Jaxx scored an instant classic and cemented their place in UK dance music history. The Brixton duo surfaced from the underground house scene in the mid-90s, and made a name for themselves opening for Daft Punk on the Gallic duo’s fabled Daftendirektour (which, incidentally, touched down at Slam’s night at The Arches on the first of its three British legs: don’t say we’re not good to you, fact fans). While they won’t be at their banging live best tomorrow night, this is the first chance to see the band DJ in Glasgow for over a decade, so you best believe I’m going to be there for an education in house, electro and funk. Saturday night, meanwhile, sees the return of the cult of Kanye to SWG3’s TV Studio. After the roaring success of a fortnight ago, Kanye: All Night Long is back with rare mixes, album tracks, and all the bangers you’d expect to hear at a Yeezy love-in.

• Basement Jaxx DJ Set, tomorrow, SWG3, 10pm – 2am, £24.50

• A Celebration of Yeezy, Saturday, SWG3, 10pm – 2am, £8

Melting Pot

Melting Pot celebrates its sweet sixteenth on Saturday: not by inviting along some itinerant special guest DJ, you understand, but by stripping away all the excess and taking the night back to its roots. “We've had so many amazing guests over the last few months and years, but no one really knows Melting Pot like Melting Pot,” said residents Andrew Pirie and Simon Cordiner. “Rock solid foundations, in the form of residents, are required to ensure the longevity of any party. It's the residents that are the soul of any club night… [We’re celebrating] by going back to how we used to do it, with our residents all night long.” Hard to say fairer, isn’t it? Without doubt, this is the pick of Saturday’s parties.

• Melting Pot’s 16th Birthday, Saturday, The Admiral, 11pm – 3am, £8
