If you experienced the chaos of the BBC 6 Music Festival, you might be forgiven for taking the coming weekend off. Even if you didn’t, perhaps a combination of the unseasonably glorious sunshine and the Scots propensity for outdoor boozing whenever possible has rendered you red raw and unsuitable for sweaty, close-quarters action this weekend. Well, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, dear reader, but your plans for a quiet one are about to be blown out of the water with the news that a certain local institution is turning 30 this weekend. That rest and recuperation period will have to wait a little longer.

On Saturday it’ll have been three decades to the day since the world-famous Sub Club threw open its doors. To celebrate, Subculture residents Harri and Dom, who oversee the longest-running underground house night and longest-running weekly house residency anywhere in the world, are behind the decks all night long: bringing the best, most soulful sounds from Chicago and Detroit to a full house that will undoubtedly be even more up for it than usual. There are no advance tickets available, so you’ll have to queue up early to get in. Might as well get down there now, because this one is going to be huge.

It’s just one part of a momentous weekend down on Jamaica Street, though. Bristol house heavyweight Julio Bashmore features at Vicious Creatures tonight, with support from residents Forbes and Anton. Tomorrow night is when things start to properly heat up, as Sensu gets a visitor from another time and dimension in the shape of Seth Troxler.

“In accordance with Mayan prophecy,” states the Michigan-born DJ’s website, “[Troxler] was, in fact, a gift to Detroit techno from intergalactic house demigods from the future.” I’m no scientist, but I’m not quite sure that’s true. Regardless, the man is outstanding and his antics are legendary, so this should be a lot of fun.

The weekend is rounded off by Tom Trago, a pillar of Amsterdam’s notoriously fervent techno scene. He’ll be going back-to-back with Jasper James, the local house wonderkid who’s joining him on a three-date tour farewell of the UK before making the move to his home city. They’re joined by Elias Mazian, one of the key residents at De School: one of the most hyped clubs in the Dutch capital.

Julio Bashmore, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, £12.50

Seth Troxler, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, sold out

Sub Club’s 30th Birthday, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm – 4am, £12

Tom Trago, Sunday, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, £8

Pressure

That thundering sound that Len Faki emits is the sound of Berlin. The world’s techno capital has its own brand: a noise that mutated into its current form from the Detroit records that were popular at parties in the years after reunification. Faki has been there since 2003, almost immediately securing a monthly residency in its biggest club, Berghain: a landmark moment that propelled him on his way to being a lynchpin of the city’s scene. It’s been all uphill since then, and he’s now one of the most in-demand techno DJs in the world. This instalment of Pressure is another chance to experience the sound of the German capital in all its brutal, pumping, industrial glory, as Faki brings some of the stars from his Figure Nacht label to SWG3. Jeroen Search plays live, Claude VonStroke and Terry Francis chip in early on, and as ever Slam are on hand to dish out some sure-fire bangers.

Pressure with Len Faki, tomorrow, SWG3, 9.30pm – 3am, £23

Illyus & Barrientos

Well, isn’t this exciting? After winning over the dance music world with a succession of shimmering Balearic bangers, Glasgow duo Illyus and Barrientos announced the launch of Black Market, their own party collective, to no small amount of hype. It promises to be a regular series of pop-up parties running out of “intimate rave caves,” the first being this session with Crazy P member Ron Basejam at The Admiral tomorrow night. A man set on creating “music with feeling,” Basejam brings influences from across disco and house, combines them with his own eclectic tastes and experiences from two decades of touring as part of an internationally-beloved electronic group, and turns them into something which is very much is own.

Illyus & Barrientos present Black Market, tomorrow, The Admiral, 11pm – 3am, £7
