The biggest event that you could potentially be grifted at this weekend is undoubtedly at SWG3 tomorrow night, when the “ageless, unapologetic raver” Green Velvet brings his mercurial, minimalist techno to the Finnieston warehouse. The legendary green-haired Chicago producer is as vital as ever, as his banging new tune Freak It proves, so those of a rave-y disposition are advised to attend.

Glasgow has always been a city in tune with the sound of Chicago, so it’s fitting that another stalwart from the Windy City headlines at the Sub Club on Saturday. The Black Madonna is a DJ who has made no secret of her love for everything Optimo and Glasgow in general, so the energy in the Subbie – which is generally manic at the best of times – should be especially intense.

Scotland’s first graffiti festival takes place across Saturday and Sunday at the SWG3 Galvaniser’s Yard, a new space within the complex that will host Optimo’s 20th anniversary festival later this summer. It promises DJs, street food, breakdancing, and the mesmerising sight of over 80 artists working in real-time to bring the concrete playground to life. Afterwards, there’s a party in the venue’s TV Studio, with dancehall, funk and world music from local spinner Greenman, in the name of fundraising for the yard’s proposed skatepark.

Green Velvet, tomorrow, SWG3, 9pm – 2am, £21

Subculture with The Black Madonna, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, £15

Yardworks, Saturday & Sunday, SWG3, 11am – 10pm, £5

Charitable Parties

More philanthropic partying is on the cards over the next few days on Queen Street – tonight, All Night Passion’s new residency at La Cheetah launches with funky grooves and funds going to the Drumchapel food bank, while on Saturday the Lezure crew spin house, techno, jungle and garage in aid of the Scottish Refugee Council. Meanwhile, the Russian techno DJ Dr Rubinstein drops in to play at Missing Person’s Club tomorrow night. Her recent gigs have included a closing set at Berlin’s Berghain and a back-to-back set with Marcel Dettman at Sonar Festival, so don’t expect to see her in a room as small as this next time.

All Night Passion, tonight, La Cheetah, 11pm – 3am, £3

Dr Rubinstein, tomorrow, La Cheetah, 11pm – 3am, £10

Dance for the Displaced, Saturday, La Cheetah, 11pm – 3am, £5 suggested donation

Cinco de Mayo

A live Mexican party band, Latin rhythms and a Donald Trump piñata – what’s not to love about this Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, which takes over the Rum Shack’s dancehall tomorrow night. You might end up on a US Border Control watchlist for taking a swipe at the Trumpster’s wild bouffant, but it’ll probably be worth it.

· Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, tomorrow, The Rum Shack, 8pm – 12am, £8
