THERE aren't any speed dating nights to rival The Old Angel Inn (see Nightmoves, below left), so single clubbers will have to console themselves with these options this weekend.

The hipper singleton should hit up Thunder Disco Club and Sub Rosa's Valentines Warehouse Party at SWG3, where any chat-up line will be well-received as long as it's delivered ironically.

The soundtrack - a combination of lewd disco and deep, dirty house - should only help on that front.

Over at The Berkeley Suite, Maxi Dance Pool's fifth outing is a Valentine's edition: DJs MWX and Hush supply the supple, slippery Italo grooves and there's a lovingly hand-made mix cassette for the first 50 through the doors.

Then there's The Garage's speed dating option, which is perfect for those looking for the skint student of their dreams.

l Purple Love: Valentines Warehouse Party with Thunder Disco, tomorrow, SWG3, Eastvale Place, 10pm-2am, £6

l Maxi Dance Pool #5, tomorrow, The Berkeley Suite, North Street, 11.30pm-3am, £5

l Fresh Beats: Speed Dating, tomorrow, The Garage, Sauchiehall Street, 11pm-3am, £5

Krystal Klear

THE first in a series of quarterly sessions, this Krystal Klear-curated night at the Sub Club features an extended set from Slow to Speak: the duo who run New York's renowned Dope Jams record shop.

Expect some of the finest deep house from them, and hip-hop/house jams from Krystal himself, who releases his first record on his label Cold Tonic on Monday. It's called Squad, it's brilliant, and it's available from Rubadub.

On Tuesday, the tykes behind iAM welcome Death In Vegas frontman Richard Fearless to the Subbie.

As is so often the case with Fearless, things might get a little weird. Support, as always, comes from residents Beta and Kappa.

l Labour of Love with Slow To Speak, tonight, Sub Club, Jamaica Street, 11pm-3am, £6

l iAM with Richard Fearless, Tuesday, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £5

This is Music

DREAM-disco duo Teengirl Fantasy met at Oberlin College in Ohio, spent a while living in Amsterdam together and are now fixtures on the Brooklyn warehouse party scene: a life which doesn't make me jealous in any way at all.

Really, I'm fine. They're the main draw at established Edinburgh night This is Music's first outing in Glasgow: so dress up good and be nice to them or they might not come back.

l This is Music with Teengirl Fantasy, tomorrow, Broadcast, Sauchiehall Street, 11pm-3am, £5
