MILK'S decidedly non-mainstream approach to throwing parties has won them a legion of adoring indie fans.

Their nights are raucous, rowdy and generally packed with the kind of people less concerned about looking cool than about going off their nuts: most certainly a good thing.

For their Anti-Valentine's Party on Wednesday, the worlds of grunge, surf pop and cookies collide in a marriage made in aural heaven.

Glaswegian duo and recent FatCat signings Honeyblood bring the scuzzy pop tunes, Secret Motorbikes the distortion-heavy melodies and The Yawns provide the wistful, blissed-out jams.

Afterwards, the Fantastic Man DJs continue the japes until late.

l Milk Anti-Valentine's Party, Wednesday, Flat 0/1, Bath Street, 9pm-3am, £5

Positive noise

POSITIVE Education, the charity-leaning electronica collective, bring London's Ali Renault to The Berkeley Suite for a night of hypnotic disco jams.

The headliner is joined by fellow Londoner Disco Bloodbath (you really shouldn't need me to tell you what they sound like) and Glasgow house producers OOFT! and Body Mechanic.

All proceeds go to the mental health charity Cope Scotland.

l Positive Education, tomorrow, The Berkeley Suite, North Street, 11pm-3am, £5

Twice as nice

THE tragic death of clubber Regane McColl overshadowed last weekend at The Arches, with last night's scheduled club cancelled out of respect.

It will be a more sombre crowd that meets Crookers tomorrow night, with the Italian producer Francesco "Phra" Barbaglia back in town without his former accomplice, Andrea "Bot" Fratangelo.

The latter left the duo in 2012, but that makes Crookers no less an exciting prospect: the Death Disco that they headlined a few years back remains one of the legendary nights in the club's history.

On Saturday, Berlin supergroup Moderat play an early and a late show to satisfy demand.

Their live shows are an audio-visual treat.

l Crookers, tomorrow, The Arches, Argyle Street, 11pm-3am, £15

l Moderat, Saturday, The Arches, 7pm-10pm and 11pm - 3am, £19.50

Techno-blast

TABERNACLE Records, the underground imprint that has its home in Glasgow, takes over Offbeat this month for an exclusive showcase.

Label favourite John Heckle, fresh from the release of his new LP Desolate Figures, features, as does head honcho Andrew Ingram and Mark Forshaw.

Their new venture, Head Front Panel, is a sub-label featuring techno from anonymous artists - just the kind of fantastically esoteric move we've come to expect from these chaps.

The following night, the deep house and techno enthusiasts behind Luska celebrate their baby's second birthday with the inimitable Mark Reeve's first set in Scotland.

He's joined by residents Dara Zahedi and Jack Swift.

l Offbeat: Tabernacle Records Showcase, tomorrow, La Cheetah, Queen Street, 11pm-3am, £6 (first 50 free)

l Luska: 2nd Birthday, Saturday, La Cheetah, 11pm-3am, £10
