OUR Games guests have gone home, the weather has returned to dreich mode, life is slowly getting back to normal.

We should be in the midst of a Commonwealth comedown, but the city's still soaring on a post-Games high.

If last weekend was a star-studded, last-night-in-town blowout, we're now back to business as usual, with a glut of great club nights to enjoy.

The most intriguing of these is on Saturday, when the mysterious Detroit collective, Dopplereffekt, kick off a new series of parties at Finnieston's SWG3 warehouse.

The techno stalwarts have been going since 1995, the only constant member being Gerald Donald.

His output has become more ambient of late, but you can expect this rare Glasgow outing to be completely banging. On support duty is techno veteran Objekt, ahead of their joint release with the headliners on Berlin's Leisure Systems label.

l Dopplereffekt, Saturday, SWG3, 10pm-3am, £10

Homecoming gig

BOTH of this page's regular readers will be well acquainted with Illyus and Barrientos.

The rising Glaswegian house duo are on a steep upward trajectory, with gigs at Ibiza superclub Space, hours of Radio 1 airplay and approval from Skream, John Digweed and the legendary Pete Tong the highlights of their journey to date.

On Saturday they go back to back with Glasgow legend Dominic Martin for a night of pure, uncut vibey house. The intimate setting of Queen Street's La Cheetah just makes it all the better. I am, to put it lightly, buzzing about this one.

l Illyus & Barrientos, Saturday, La Cheetah, 11pm-3am, £5

Athens to Berlin

QUELL is based in Berlin but comes from Athens, Georgia: a city better known for REM rather than deep, spacey house.

A resident at Tresor in his adopted hometown, the American has deep feelings for Scotland, and lists the Subbie as one of the clubs he wants to visit most in the world.

You can catch him tonight at the latest instalment of Hide, along with local talents Junior G and Ray Vose.

Tomorrow, there's more European-influenced shenanigans as Rhadoo, one of Romania's top DJs, hits Saint Judes.

He's held residencies at Bucharest's Club A and Ibiza's DC10, and consistently slays venues across Europe with his deep, dubby house and seductive techno. Shoud be pretty good, then.

l Quell, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £5

l Rhadoo, tomorrow, Saint Judes, 10pm-3am, £8
