Dutch djing brothers Showtek have set their sights on working on a track with Scots hitmaker Calvin Harris.

Having worked already with top producers David Guetta and Hardwell, the pair, whose real names are Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen, admit they would like to produce with the Outside star.

Sjoerd said: "There are a lot of people we would like to with. Of course it would be an honour to work with big names like Calvin Harris for example, but we also like to work with upcoming DJs. That's one of the reasons we started our label Skink."

Wouter added: "Yeah on Skink we can release music from artists we really like big or small. That's the cool thing of having your own label."

Showtek, who hail from Eindhoven in Holland, might be able to pick up some Scottish patter as a way of wooing Harris into the studio when they play Colourfest at Glasgow's Braehead Arena on Saturday, June 6.

Sjoerd: "We have learned some words, but I think that if I say something Scottish you guys will laugh really hard. Especially with our Dutch accent."

Showtek have managed to create a sound that makes their music distinct in a set but how do they create those big beat dance anthems?

"First and foremost, we make tracks that we actually like ourselves.

"We always try to do something new and creative, which makes the process of producing tracks really fun.

"When we have a nice hook or drop we do imagine how the crowd could react, but most of the times it's just a feeling," explained Sjoerd.

He added: "It's always a great experience to work with other artists, because you can combine different perspectives on music and learn from each other. It's fun to try new things, we don't want to use the same drop or rhythm in every track. But, all of our tracks we make have a Showtek touch and sound."

Wouter said: "When we worked with David Guetta we tried to combine pop, reggae and the dance music as it is today. He is someone who is very good at knowing which style fits another and his vision on producing was really inspirational."

They seem to work well together and in their collaborations, but do the brothers ever fight?

Wouter said: "We don't physically fight with each other (anymore), but of course we argue and have different opinions on things. But I think all siblings argue."

With tracks like Cannonball and Booyah, Showtek have moved to an electro house sound which is a far reach from where they started out as techno DJs in 2001.

Wouter said: "I think we always try to combine different styles and be creative. When we first started we only played techno music, but we found out that spreading our own knowledge and using other styles can be really fun and interesting."

"We just make music because we love it and we don't really think beforehand what kind of style we want to use in a new track. So we might just make a whole new techno track in the future, you just have to wait and see," explained Sjoerd.

Having travelled all over the world with that Showtek sound, the brothers admit that their hometown audience is the best - aside from the Scottish crowd of course.

"Of course, we like to play in our hometown Eindhoven in The Netherlands. It's always great coming home and seeing people from your own country enjoying your music," said Wouter.

Sjoerd added: "We're blessed to travel the world. I love Latin America as well, really nice people who know how to party."

They will expect that same energy at Coloursfest when they take to the main area as headliners with Steve Aoki.

Wouter beamed, "The Scottish crowd never stops. They are always dancing, jumping, screaming throughout the whole performance, which is incredible. It gives us a lot of energy.

"You can expect an energetic and fun show with a lot of Showtek songs. Be prepared for the unexpected,"

Sjoerd added: "Yes, we are looking forward to playing Coloursfest. We always love playing in Scotland and playing at Coloursfest is going to be great."

Showtek might even tease their new track at the event.

Sjoerd said: "We're really excited about our new track Satisfied featuring Vassy. It will be released in June you guys still have to wait a while, but we hope you'll love it."
