THERE are going to be some serious eye bags around Glasgow's workplaces and lecture halls on Monday morning.

This weekend is the second big one in succession: there are more parties going on than we have room to write about.

As is often the case, the Subbie will see some of the heaviest boogieing.

Tonight, BBC Radio 6 DJ and producer Gilles Peterson kicks things off at Rubix, with his first set in Glasgow for, well, ages.

Expect a genre-hopping musical odyssey taking in jazz, Latin and minimal influences from a beloved musical maven.

Tomorrow, it's Optimo's turn to ramp up the eclecticism as it hosts a charitable party to help support the Maryhill Food Bank.

Every penny raised on the door will be donated: it's a sad truth that the number of Glaswegians turning to food banks to feed their families has more than doubled in the past year.

Whether you're out to party or not, please do what you can to support those in need, because the Government certainly aren't interested.

On Saturday, the gang from highly-rated Leeds label 2020Vision take over Subculture for the night.

Label boss Ralph Lawson and Belfast youngster Ejeca will bring the experimental disco, garage, deep house and techno.

l Rubix presents Gilles Peterson, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £10

l Optimo, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, tbc

l 2020 Vision Subculture Takeover with Ralph Lawson, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £10

Raving Limerick

THE eternally-popular STREETrave celebrates its 25th anniversary on Saturday with an enormous blowout at The Arches.

Ravers who can remember the heady days of the early '90s will be excited to see Alison Limerick, of Where Love Lives fame, Shades of Rhythm and Kym Mazelle.

That's not to mention Brooklyn house legend David Morales, who makes his first Arches appearance in a decade, and regulars including Jon Mancini and Giovanni Ferri.

Those who prefer it a little more modern might be more interested in heading to Finnieston, where Ministry of Sound favourite Secondcity will set out to slay the SWG3 warehouse crowd.

Alternatively, for those who like their house with a more homely accent, Made in Glasgow has La Cheetah and Let's Go Back … residents Bosco and Wardy playing banging acid techno and electronica in a thumping sonic clash.

l STREETrave 25th Birthday with Alison Limerick, Saturday, The Arches, 10pm-3am, £29.50

l Secondcity, Saturday, SWG3, 10pm-am, £8

l Made in Glasgow with Bosco and Wardy, Saturday, La Cheetah, 11pm-3am, £8

Funky Francois K

UNDERGROUND disco's most enduring and influential figure is heading back to Melting Pot.

New Yorker Francois K headlines on Saturday, bringing the spirit of Studio 54 to Waterloo Street through his overflowing crate of elastic funk and soulful house.

Francois is, of course, not to be confused with Mancunian Jon K, who is Killer Kitsch's guest on Tuesday.

He's a bit more spacey and open to hip-hop remixes, which should go down nicely with the Buff Club regulars.

And also on Saturday, along roughly the same lines, is the return of Soul to Ad Lib.

They've got soul expert Trevor Bond spinning Motown and '60s R&B alongside old favourite Felonious Munk. Sounds righteous, and, best of all, it's totally free.

l Melting Pot with Francois K, Saturday, The Admiral, 11pm-3am, £15

l Killer Kitsch with Jon K, Tuesday, The Buff Club, 11pm-3am, £5

l Soul, Saturday, Ad Lib, 10.30pm-3am, free
