BATH Street isn't traditionally where you'd head for a bounce, but underground favourites like Saint Judes and Flat 0/1 are changing all that for the better.

While the latter perhaps doesn't have the same clout as some of the town's other clubs, it's home to a selection of nights that make it popular with the Sub Club's super-hip crowd.

You could look at it as a kind of feeder club to the big boys: the Vitesse Arnhem to the Subbie's Chelsea, perhaps.

Weekends here aren't quite as chaotic as on Jamaica Street, but the sprit isn't far off.

Take last weekend's Bank Holiday Special, for example: it featured a marathon 11-hour session from the Boogaloo crew, with residents, upcoming talent from across Scotland, and Glaswegian heavyweights alike.

It kicked off at 4pm, the heavy blackout curtains shutting off the outside world, and continued until midnight, when the forgotten real life came sharply back into focus and a handful of hardcore punters were reluctantly kicked out onto the street in search of the afterparty.

The best bit was that it was all free and in aid of Alzheimer Scotland, showing that this isn't just another two-bit dance den trying to cash in on the holiday rush.

Round at Flat 0/1 it's all about the love of music, and the love of Mad Dog shots and really cheap cider just so happens to help to fuel that love.

If I was lucky enough to have these guys as my neighbours, I'd never complain.
