BERLIN techno giant Len Faki and Detroit's Carl Craig are the main guests at this month's predictably massive Pressure, which takes over The Arches tomorrow night.

It'll be the first big club here since the venue's much-criticised over-21 policy came into force, but given the more discerning (and, in theory, more mature) audience that Pressure attracts, that might not have a huge effect on the party's celebrated atmosphere.

The club is preceded by a screening of the documentary Requiem For Detroit? and a Q&A session with the legendary Craig, which kicks off at 7.30pm.

Tickets are free from The Arches' box office from 10am tomorrow.

On Saturday, John O'Callaghan's Subculture (nothing to do with the Harri & Dom-led Sub Club residency) promises to "leave you reeling with euphoric trance excitement".

The English trance man is joined by a host of other rush-inducing specialists, including Scot Project playing a classics set, and Simon Patterson.

It's also worth noting that the club's regular Wednesday night Shangri-La has been relocated to Saint Judes for the foreseeable future, with four floors of Funktion One-powered shenanigans and house duo Audiojack to get stuck into.

l Pressure with Len Faki, tomorrow, The Arches, 11pm - 5am, £23

l Subculture with John O'Callaghan, Saturday, The Arches, 9pm - 3am, £24.50

Proud double

LOCAL synth poppers Prides are riding the crest of a wave at the minute, having featured on BBC Introducing and generally just cropping up everywhere you turn.

Tomorrow night they play an exclusive DJ Set at The Flying Duck's indie night Glue, before performing live at BrewDog Presents on Saturday at SWG3.

If that all sounds a bit poncey and you despair for the current generation, get down to Firewater where Joy Division and New Order's Peter Hook will be reliving the Madchester days with a crowd of punters who probably weren't even born when Blue Monday came out. Let's be 'avin yer, and all that.

l Glue presents Prides DJ Set, tomorrow, The Flying Duck, 11pm - 3am, £5

l Peter Hook DJ Set , tomorrow, Firewater, 11pm - 3am, £6

Happy birthday

IT takes remarkable longevity in this club game to make it to two years, so a big hats off to The Garage on reaching the ripe old age of 20.

Thanks to a winning combination of being really cheap and, if you're into that kind of thing, an enormous amount of fun, it's still packing the students in every weekend and most weeknights. It's basically a caricature of club carnage that is impossible to dislike, even when you hit 21 and are too old to go there anymore.

Tomorrow night's birthday spectacular has the chance to win cars, holidays and games consoles, turning the whole thing into more of a Generation Game with cheap vodka.

On Saturday prime yourself for more celebration as another institution, Melting Pot, hits its teenage years.

The venerable disco night has New Yorker Joe Claussell and Glaswegian David Barbarossa in to pile on the funk classics.

l Fresh Beats: The Garage's 20th Birthday, tomorrow, 11pm - 3am, £5

l Melting Pot 13th Birthday, Saturday, The Admiral, 10.30pm - 3am, £15
