ASURPRISINGLY low-key last weekend of the month kicks off tomorrow night at Queen Street's Keller Club, with a set from rising Glaswegian stars Illyus and Barrientos.

They'll be warming up for their trip to Ibiza next week, where they'll play at Carl Cox's Music is Revolution at Space, alongside Cox himself and Laurent Garnier.

You'll also be able to hear them on BBC Radio 1 Xtra tonight in a special hour-long vibey house mix to get you in the mood.

Saturday sees techno's Rebecca Vasmant playing at pop-up venue The Rio Club in Merchant Square, as part of the Glasgow Jazz Festival.

Vasmant has been known to drop a jazz jam or two into her varied and unpredictable sets, but she has also worked on live jazz projects involving electronic musicians for the festival.

She's joined by Mark Robb, the Buff Club's renowned soul and jazz man, in what should be an alluring, one-off musical cocktail.

And in a surprising coup for the tiny basement club, 69 Below hosts the irrepressible GBX on the same night.

Tickets are selling fast for this one: so if you want to catch Georgie Boy in this most intimate of settings, you're going to have to move quicker than a police-evading, tonic wine-fuelled teen.

There's also a pre-party at the nearby Courtyard Bar from 7pm onwards.

l Illyus and Barrientos, tomorrow, Keller Club, 11pm-3am, £7.

l Rebecca Vasmant, Saturday, Rio Club, 11pm-3am, £8.

l GBX, Saturday, 69 Below, 9pm-3am, £10.

Local talent

EVEN Sensu, usually no stranger to massive guests, are keeping it local this weekend.

After last night's Sub Rosa featured Glasgow Underground's hottest new talent, the techno titans are throwing a residents-only party showcasing the figures that have kept them ticking over for almost a decade.

Barry Price and Junior feature, alongside Alan Belshaw and Cesco Ferri.

Expect a pure, unfiltered techno session as the anticipation builds towards July's Sensu Boat Party.

The following night, there's more electronica from the Weeg as the South Side's Dixon Avenue Basement Jams light up the evergreen Subculture with their Raw, hard-hitting analogue house.

l Sensu Residents Party, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £5.

l Subculture with Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm-3am, £10.

Retro madness

THERE'S also plenty to take in for the more retro-minded clubber over the coming days.

The Glasgow Mod Weekender kicked off yesterday and runs until Sunday, with events taking place across the Mod trifecta of McChuills on the High Street, the Merchant City's Blackfriars, and, um… Strathclyde Union's Barony Bar.

Highlights include Carlisle R&B combo The 45s at McChuill's on Saturday afternoon, and a night of '60s tunes to round things off at Blackfriar's on Sunday, from the Tailor Made DJs.

Nineties fanatics can get their fix at Madchester tomorrow night, while Blitzed, at SWG3 on Saturday, takes nostalgia lovers back to the 1940s with live swing music, ballroom dancing and outfits twee-er than those at a Belle and Sebastian gig.

Sounds pretty good to me.

l Glasgow Mod Weekender, tonight-Sunday, McChuills, Barony Bar and Blackfriars, free.

l Madchester, tomorrow, The Admiral, 11pm-3am, £5.

l Blitzed, Saturday, SWG3, 9pm - 2am, £10.
