PUBLIC calendar setters, you are really spoiling us with these May bank holidays.

Yet another long weekend is upon us and it's another chance to get up to some Sunday shenanigans that would usually be out of the question.

The good people of the East End Social and Optimo duly noted this, and they've sprung into action to put together the barnstorming Barrowland Revue, which takes over the legendary dancehall on Sunday.

Todd Terje, the Norwegian dean of elastic disco, is the headliner and it's his first ever live performance in Scotland.

His first full-length album, It's Album Time, was released last month after a string of amazing (that should really be AMAZING) singles, and the music press have been lapping it up.

He makes groovy, laid-back disco (if, indeed, that's a thing) and I, for one, am really excited about this. You also have the woozy and weird Golden Teacher playing live, and Optimo, Ben UFO and New Yorker Tim Sweeney on DJ duties to get you in the mood.

l Optimo Barrowland Revue, Sunday, Barrowland, 5pm - 11pm, £18

l Afterparty, Sunday, Sub Club, 11.30pm - 3am, £5

One's afterparty

IF Pete Tong's in town, it's never not a big deal. One of the most enduring names in modern music, he's been shaping the face of popular dance since the late 80s.

The Arches hosts him as a headliner at this unofficial Radio 1 Big Weekend afterparty, alongside English DJs Gareth Emery and Luke Bond, and the usual Arches residents.

The same venue hosts Radio 1 tastemaker Annie Mac tomorrow night, spinning the hottest bleeding-edge dance as well as old favourites.

This is all after tomorrow's enormous street Party in George Square featuring Mac, Tong, Zane Lowe and the cream of Radio 1, and before 50,000 screaming teenagers descend on Glasgow Green to witness popsters like Katy Perry, One Direction and Calvin Harris on Saturday and Sunday.

l Radio 1 Big Weekend Unofficial Afterparty, Saturday, The Arches, 10.30pm - 4am, £24.50

l Annie Mac, tomorrow, The Arches, 11pm - 3am, £15

Get freaky

THE Art School's end of term blowout means a tonne of hip-hop, R&B and slow jams taking over the incredible new union on Satuday.

The super-hip Parisian DJ Piu Piu headlines, along with S-Type, of local collective LuckyMe, and DJ Milktray, among others.

If you're after old school vibes this weekend, Stereo seems to be the place to hit up: tomorrow night Bamba and Big Miz are playing exclusively mid-noughties festival electro, and on Saturday Gemini and Basil Hemmingway take us back to Studio 54 with a night of hedonistic disco.

Shoulder pads are encouraged, of course.

l Freaky Freaky, Saturday, The Art School, 11pm - 3am, £5

l J'adore Danser, Saturday, Stereo, 11pm - 3am, £5

All aboard

OPTIMO'S JD Twitch must have drawn the short straw: a mere two days after their enormous Barrowland Revue, he'll have to dust himself down and go for it again as the lynchpin of iAM's annual boat party.

It leaves the Science Centre at 7pm, returning after dark only for the party to continue until the early hours at the Subbie.

Twitch is joined by the iAM residents Beta and Kappa, who'll be spinning all sorts of energetic house, disco and techno.

l iAM Boat Party with JD Twitch, Tuesday, Glasgow Science Centre, 7pm - 11pm, £16/20

l Afterparty, Tuesday, Sub Club, 11pm - 3am, £5
