ONE of the contenders for dumbest film ever, Hot Tub Time Machine combined screwball farce with gross-out guy humour to better than average effect.

Its combination of jokes, time travel and breakneck pace have spawned this club spin-off, where punters are taken on a musical journey from the 50s to the present day in just over four hours.

Starting back in 1950, DJ Tom Loud plays one song from each year until today, employing an impressive audio-visual format as he goes.

This is one for anyone who doesn't mind a bit of cheese: more than 30,000 people have experienced this globe- trotting student clubber's dream, so it must be doing something right.

After the fire

THE devastating fire that tore through the Art School's historic Mackintosh building has disrupted much of the institution's work, but it'll take a lot more to stop them partying.

The School's annual Degree Show Party will go ahead as planned tomorrow.

Originally planned as a street party, it'll now take place at the new Student's Association and the CCA's Saramango Bar.

JG Wilkes, one half of local legends Optimo (as if you needed telling) is the headliner up at the School, along with wonky noise- makers Golden Teacher, the Vitamins crew, and Hush going back to back with iAM's Kappa.

The CCA portion has guitar noise in the shape of "doom-wop" outfit Jacob Yates and the Pearly Gate Lock Pickers, disco from Glaswegian duo General Ludd, and Afro-centric tunes from DJ Afrodeesia.

A fitting send-off for a difficult academic year.

l Degree Show Party 2014 with JG Wilkes, tomorrow, The Art School, 9pm-3am, £7/£10

Go Dutch

YOU don't have to be Dutch to be a world-beating dance DJ, but it would seem that it really, really helps. Dannic is the latest in a long line of young men from the Netherlands to have mastered the fine art of making an enormous room full of people lose the plot.

He's been playing records since the age of 17, when he debuted in a bar in his hometown, Breda.

They must be putting something in the water there - it's also produced dance superstars Tiesto and Hardwell, with Dannic signed to Revealed, the latter's record label.

Fresh from playing to 20,000 people back home, Dannic, and the local boys supporting him, should be well up for this one.

Prepare for a night of serious fist pumping.

Rubadubbing

SUB Rosa is one of the most exciting nights in Glasgow just now, as shown by their commitment to unearthing new local talent.

On Wednesday, get your midweek kicks round at the Subbie, where the beats will come courtesy of the hottest spinners from Rubadub, the Howard Street institution just a stone's throw from the celebrated club.

Details on who exactly is playing are sketchy, but they'll be supported by Sub Rosa resident Nowicki.
