A DISCO selector of some repute, Dimitri From Paris takes over the Wicked Lounge - a (relatively) fresh and new venue on Candleriggs on Sunday.

The super-suave Frenchman favours a suitably Gallic dance sound - think 80s influenced synth jams and vocal house cuts building to wild, elastic-bassline bangers later on.

Check out his Boiler Room set for an idea of what to expect.

In Room Two, look out for Daniel LaRusso of local label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams - this promising youngster was featured on Jackmaster's Radio 1 Glaswegian love-in a few weeks ago and comes hotly-tipped for bigger things.

Reggae in park

THE sunshine won't be the only thing blazing in the East End on Saturday.

Afternoon reggae sessions fuelled by tonic wine are what summer was invented for, so I'd recommend getting along to this one-off Mungo's special in Alexandra Park.

Part of the East End Social series of events, it kicks off at noon with the usual Mungo's Hi-Fi residents playing roots and modern reggae, dub and dancehall.

Their special guest is the Jamaican MC Little John - making his Scottish debut, no less - and he'll be playing alongside the incisive, impeccable British dancehall man YT and Mancunian MC Top Cat.

It finishes pretty early on, so head to the excellent Texan smokehouse Dennistoun Bar B Que, on nearby Duke Street, to refuel before hitting up the new Drygate Brewery, just a short walk away.

You're on your own after that, though.

Subbie triple

BIG things happening at the Subbie this weekend: there's sleazy disco and funk with an 80s twist from Belfast duo Bicep tomorrow, then - this is big - Spanish DJ John Talabot features at Subculture on Saturday.

To round off the week, Sub Rosa on Wednesday has a night dedicated to Glasgow Underground's rising stars: the label has recently released tunes from Illyus and Barrientos, Mia Dora and Brett Gould, so it's safe to say they know what's up.

l Thunder Disco Club with Bicep, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm - 3am, £12

l Subculture with John Talabot, Saturday, Sub Club, 11pm - 3am, £12

l Glasgow Underground Label Party, Wednesday, Sub Club, 11pm - 3am

Super cool

AFTER last month's Rough Trade special, Selected Service returns tomorrow with a night dedicated to the work of the world's coolest record label.

DFA, run from a tiny office in Manhattan's West Village, was founded by James Murphy, Tim Goldsworthy and Jonathan Galkin and has been responsible for some of the best underground records of the last 10 years.

As well as defining the New York punk-funk sound with releases from LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture, dance music would have been much poorer without it, not to mention YACHT and Black Dice's noisy indie.

Despite being a tiny enterprise it has a worldwide reach, with devotees travelling from Europe to hunt down its cosy office and offer up doomed demos, or just chitchat with Galkin.

If you're down early not only will you in free, but you'll be treated exclusively to tunes from seminal New York hip-hop label Celluloid+.

Doesn't get much better, really.

l Selected Service: DFA, tomorrow, The Flying Duck, 11pm - 3am, £5/3
