Jack Whitehall has revealed he had a rather surreal moment at this year’s Oscars: consoling Sylvester Stallone about missing out on best supporting actor.
The Bad Education and Fresh Meat star found himself at star-studded after-party courtesy of a Hollywood friend, where he bumped into Sly.

Sylvester, 69, was nominated for his role in Creed – but lost out to British actor Mark Rylance, who won for Bridge Of Spies.
Jack, 27, told The Mirror: “I walked straight into Sylvester Stallone afterwards at the Governors Ball.

“I had to console him about missing out on his Oscar, telling him there was always next year. Or maybe if he did Creed 2 he might get a nod. I think it reassured him.”
The veteran actor apparently had no idea who Mark, former artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe theatre in London, actually was.

Jack revealed: “Because he knew I was English, I had to tell him who Mark Rylance was. I talked him through all of Mark’s performances at the Globe theatre.
“Good old Sly, I loved him in Creed. And I love Mark Rylance, so I had to remain pretty neutral about it.”

Apparently there’s also a sure-fire way to track down fellow Brits at the Oscars.
“It’s quite a surreal event,” he said. “There’s a bar, so you don’t have to be in there for the full four hours.
“All the British nominees are there, propped up at the bar.”
