10 of the worst ever looks at the MTV Movie Awards

The fashion police are also ready, and within hours the sartorial hits will have been picked out and the misses will be languishing on worst-dressed lists.

Here, we round up some of the worst looks to ever grace the awards.

1. Tara Reid

Oh dear. Now we know the MTV Movie Awards aren’t the Oscars, so a certain laid-back surfy look can be expected. But Tara, really, that’s just too much flesh.

The American Pie star wore this black outfit to the 2003 awards.

2. Paris Hilton

Seeing Paris Hilton in a similarly skimpy number, we’re thinking Tara Reid can be forgiven after all, because maybe there was a heatwave? Could it have been too hot for anything with sleeves or legs?

We’re guessing hotel heiress Paris just threw on a wrap and dashed over from the beach.

3. Victoria Beckham

Victoria is quite the fashionista these days, what with being a designer and all, but it wasn’t all that long ago (2007 actually) that she was turning up to red carpets in these sorts of looks.

This little animal print number helped earn her the dubious title of worst-dressed celebrity in the world by late fashion guru Richard Blackwell.

Ouch! We expect Posh practically tripped over herself in her haste to get this into the bin.

4. Kristen Stewart

It was 2009 and she was in the midst of her Twilight superstar-dom. Clearly Kristen Stewart thought she could get away with anything.

5. Christina Aguilera

It was 2010 and the year Natalie Portman dazzled in Black Sawn, so it’s possible Christina was taking that as her inspiration in this Atelier Versace gown.

6. Nicki Minaj

Nicki does sometimes bring the outlandish to the carpet but this less than tasteful ensemble from 2011 was a bit of a flop.

Her cropped khaki pants and cleavage-revealing top were more subdued than usual but just made us miss her more colourful and wacky outfits.

7. Hana Mae Lee

Hana Mae’s weird and wonderful look at the 2013 ceremony was certainly a fashion disaster.

But we can’t hate on it too much as we have to assume she was making some sort of anti-smoking statement?

8. Rihanna

Rihanna is known for enjoying a fashion risk and it usually pays off.

But this floaty white get-up from the 2014 awards just looks a little too much like some sort of bathrobe for it to be a winner.

9. Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley found herself on several worst-dressed lists after she rocked up to the red carpet in this mish-mash of an outfit in 2015.

The Divergent star made a brave stab at going for a fashion forward sort of look but, in the end, the mix of styles and prints just didn’t do her justice.

10. Bai Ling

Bai Ling was jostling with Shailene for space on the worst-dressed lists courtesy of this fashion don’t.

The actress is known for her outrageous red carpet looks and certainly didn’t disappoint when she turned up in this dress/dragon last year.
