A new statue of Lucille Ball is being unveiled in the late actress’s home town.
It will replace one that was so hated it was dubbed “Scary Lucy” by locals.

Sculptor Carolyn Palmer hopes her tribute will please fans who demanded another artist’s unflattering version be banished, through a Facebook campaign with the name We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue.
The new statue is to be unveiled in Lucille Ball Memorial Park in the western New York village of Celoron.

The sculptor won’t reveal too much about the new Lucy in advance of the official debut, but says she wanted to show the much-loved US actress and comedian’s energy and confidence.
As for Scary Lucy, mayor Scott Schrecengost says she’s too popular to remove altogether, so she’ll be given another spot in the park.
