Much like the DFS sale, nobody expected Resident Evil to actually come to an end.

But given the title of the next film and the narration provided by Alice in a short preview on YouTube, this really is the final instalment.

Milla Jovovich is back as Alice for the sixth time, a role she’s been playing for the past 14 years, while Orange Is The New Black’s Ruby Rose also landed a role.

The first full trailer is expected to drop on Wednesday so by then we’ll know a lot more about the synopsis, but from what we understand The Final Chapter sees Alice returning to where it all started, Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is preparing to wipe out the apocalypse’s few remaining survivors for good.

The classic cult series is loosely based on the Capcom game of the same name, and features Umbrella Corp as the film’s antagonist, responsible for unleashing the T-Virus on the world and bringing on the zombie apocalypse.

If you’ve never seen Resident Evil or played the game, they’re worth a watch despite the almost always negative reviews – just don’t go into it with a serious mindset and you’ll be fine. It hasn’t grossed more than $1 billion worldwide for no reason.
