You know a film is kind of a big deal if a trailer is given its very own teaser days before release.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is such a film, and a new 15-second clip that teases a full trailer – set to air on Thursday during NBC’s Olympics coverage in the US – has left fans going wild over what they’ll get to see.

It’s a short, sharp and action-packed clip that toes the line of giving too much away, but reveals that more will be seen of other characters in the new trailer.

There are brand new shots of leading lady Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, who was the star of the first trailer, and also Jiang Wen’s Baze Malbus.

Returning from the original trailer in this new sneak peek fans get to see slightly more of the likes of Donnie Yen as Chirrut Imwe and Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna.

There’s also a look at K-2SO, a reprogrammed imperial droid.

It’s also tense, fraught and full of drama for such a short amount of time, and it looks as though this second trailer will see LucasFilm give so much more away about the film, months ahead of its release in cinemas in December.

Rogue One is the first standalone movie in the Star Wars anthology. Set in the Star Wars universe, it slots into the timeline before A New Hope and follows a group of rebel spies and their mission to steal the plans for the evil Galactic Empire’s new weapon, the Death Star.
