IN A night of showbiz and smiles, there was some sadness at the Emmy awards in Los Angeles with tributes to actor Robin Williams.
The stars of the small screen turned out in force for a poignant awards ceremony, which included a special tribute from the comedian's close friend Billy Crystal.
Williams committed suicide two weeks ago.
The 66th annual TV awards show included familiar faces from hit American dramas Breaking Bad, Homeland and Mad Men.
But British programmes and stars were well represented, with Downton Abbey up for Outstanding Drama Series and Benedict Cumberbatch nominated for Lead Actor in his role in Sherlock, while Martin Freeman was up for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the series Fargo.
Helena Bonham Carter was shortlisted for her role as Elizabeth Taylor, in Burton And Taylor, about her volatile marriage with Richard Burton.
