A FILM featuring the plight of former North Lanarkshire steelworkers has been chosen for an international award.
Red Dust, a film by Edinburgh art school graduate Ilona Kacieja, is one of 12 winning entries at this year's Scottish mental health arts and film festival awards.
The documentary features testimonials by workers of the Ravenscraig Steelworks in Motherwell, which closed in 1992.
Last year as many as 400 Ravenscraig staff and families of deceased workers consulted lawyers about compensation, after claiming they had suffered health problems owing to toxic gases at the site.
Ilona's film will be screened along with the 11 others at the Glasgow School of Art until Sunday.
The winning entries were chosen by a panel of mental health and film experts, and covered a range of issues including the mental health of people living with Down's Syndrome, dementia and sexual abuse victims.
Two other Scottish winners formed part of the final selection; Claire Lamond, whose film Sea Front features the music of Scots musician Karine Polwart, and Sitar Rose, who focused on the issue of childhood sexual abuse in her film Tell Tale Signs.
