IT is proving to be one of this season's top box office hits but for Greenock-born stuntman Craig Miller, the film, With Kingsman: The Secret Service, comes after 20 years training in martial arts.

FOR the last two decades Craig has been studying martial arts in various forms and currently lives in Hong Kong.

He may have started out with a passion to learn these techniques but he recently moved into performing stunts and has since appeared in more than 12 films, including Kingsman and Dracula: Untold.

His latest move into celluloid came about after a friend got him into a casting call in London.

But his path to becoming a stunt performer began rather out of the blue.

Craig explains: "Well, it was kind of by accident. I saw some guys in a park here doing Kung fu and watched them for a while.

"Once I started chatting to them and explaining myself, turns out there is a stunt school here called the Hithut which they are connected with.

"So I went along for a few classes just to check it out, loved it and stayed to do the qualification under them. "Started in movies with those guys and then it just snow balled from there."

He first began practising when he was still at school.

The 31-year-old said: "I was 12 years old when I started properly! Had floated about doing some kind of martial arts in different clubs but got real into it at 12.

"Nothing else appealed to me much.

"Didn't play football, loved sports but was usually kind of bored, but martial arts just intrigued me always and kept me interested every day, even today almost 20 years later.

"It's all I ever done.

"I left school and went to China straight away for training at a Shaolin Temple, travelled to Thailand for training, Hong Kong and kind of settled here."

Craig definitely hasn't limited himself when it comes to fighting styles.

He began with traditional Chinese styles and moved on to Kali, a Filipino style that uses various weapons.

Later he learned Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts techniques which became something of a favourite for him.

He said: "Later I got real heavy into Muay Thai and MMA. I love the ground work like BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu. "That's why martial arts for me even today keeps me interested, I'm always a student and always loads to learn."

Craig talked enthusiastically about his next big adventure: shooting a new film, 'Enter the Cage' for which he will be in a leading role.

He said: "Of course I'm the bad guy, which is always fun."

Craig has completed several films since attending the Hithut in Hong Kong, most of which are based in Chinese cinema.

His CV also includes music videos and TV commercials.

He added: "Things here in Hong Kong get missed often as not many people follow HK cinema, which is why I'm lucky to have connections in London and have landed some big jobs like Kingsman and Dracula."
