The film was a sell-out at Berlin film festival after fans queued for fifteen hours to get their hands on the coveted tickets.

But 50 Shades garnered a very mixed reception from spectators.

Some critics said the film was 'exciting,' praising the actors for their shining performances – particularly Dakota Johnson's role as Anastasia Steele.

Some people some of whom believed it was too tame – calling it a 'waste of two hours' and 'excruciatingly boring.'

Nevertheless, the star-studded red carpet event stole the show.

Lead actress Dakota Johnson, 25, turned heads in a plunging black Dior gown with a split up the thigh, while her co-star Jamie Dornan, 32, looked dapper in a black tuxedo accessorised with a pocket square.

Jamie's wife Amelia Dornan was sure to stick close by her man, making a statement in a red lace jumpsuit by Temperley London.

Author EL James cut a very sultry figure in a glitzy embellished black A-line dress, accompanied by her writer husband Niall Leonard.

But she was sure to avoid director Sam Taylor–Johnson, 47, who she allegedly clashed with on-set on a daily basis over creative differences.
