Heartthrobs One Direction and Justin Bieber will put their fans' loyalty to the test as they battle it out for the number one spot in this week's album charts.

Made In The A.M., One Direction's fifth album and their last before their hiatus in Spring 2016, is currently out in front with 14,000 more sales than Bieber's fourth offering, Purpose.

If sales continue, Directioners will help the band score their fourth UK number one after Take Me Home, Midnight Memories and Four, but there's still time for the Beliebers to swoop in with an eleventh hour win for the Canadian pop sensation.

Jeff Lynne's ELO enters the chart at number three this week with Alone In The Universe, while Elvis Presley's If I Can Dream drops to fourth with Little Mix's Get Weird in fifth.

While Bieber trails in the album charts, his single Sorry is now 150 sales ahead of Adele's Hello, threatening to topple her off the top spot on Friday after three weeks.

Fleur East's debut Sax holds firm at three, while Jess Glynne's Children in Need single Take Me Home, which she performed on the charity's appeal night, vaults from 20th place to fourth.

Even if Bieber doesn't continue to hold his lead over Adele, he looks set to dominate the Top 5 with a second single, his track Love Yourself, new in at number five.
