It's been a rollercoaster year for Beartooth.

The US metalcore punks, formed by ex-Attack Attack! frontman Caleb Shomo in 2012, are in high demand since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Disgusting in 2014, securing a support slot with Slipknot and an inclusion on the tracklist of the latest Guitar Hero game.

The quintet are now returning to the UK and can't wait to bring their headlining tour to Glasgow's SWG3 on Friday, November 27.

Shomo said: "We love playing in Scotland, it's always a rowdy time. Glasgow audiences are very high energy, there's always lots of chants and jumping.

"We're so excited to be headlining a UK tour, we can't wait to rip some international gigs.

"Everything's sold out except for Glasgow but it's very close so life's pretty good to say the least!"

It's not the first time Beartooth have been in Glasgow. The band played a few shows in the city when they were starting out and have a particular fondness for one of its most iconic venues.

Shomo added: "So far The Cathouse is our favourite Scottish venue. Last time we played there it was out of control and the after party is always wicked.

"We love Scotland and are ready to bring some heat.

"We've been playing these songs for so long now that we kind of were able to feel out what goes over best. We’ve really been working on dialling in the best set we can deliver."

The group, who are label mates with Scots rockers Twin Atlantic at Red Bull Records, had no intention of recording or touring when they formed three years ago, with Shomo initially seeing the side project as a distraction from his work with Attack Attack!.

However, when he left Attack Attack! in 2012 he poured all of his energies into Beartooth, with the band releasing their debut EP, Sick, in 2013 and Disgusting a year later.

Shomo said: "It's rad that people are digging it (Disgusting), I'm glad it's gone over so well.

"We never expected the record to take off like it did and we're beyond stoked."

The album deftly mixes dark, brooding lyrics with crunching riffs, punchy vocals and punk metal sensibilities.

Shomo said: "It's a lot of dark emotion I had that I turned into music. I was going through a very hard time and it was my therapy.

"Most of the subjects are about my depression and anxiety but I also wrote a few songs about stuff I'd seen on the road."

However, Shomo says he can take inspiration for his music from anywhere.

He said: "My process for writing songs is different almost every time. Sometimes I start with lyrics and sometimes I start with riffs.

"It usually starts with guitar and then goes from there but it honestly can start from any inspiration."

As if having a critically acclaimed debut album was not enough, the band, whose influences include Queen and Pantera, also got the chance to fulfil another dream this year when their song 'I Have A Problem' was included in the latest edition of the hugely successful Guitar Hero video game franchise.

Shomo said: "I never thought we could make it to Guitar Hero.

"We just got hit up about it and asked if we wanted to be on it so we said yes immediately.

"I can't wait to get home and jam it out!"

Beartooth will play SWG3 on Friday, November 27.
