A Michigan school where Glenn Frey was a pupil is to name part of a street after the late Eagles singer-songwriter.

Glenn Frey Drive will run adjacent to Royal Oak Middle School, formerly called Dondero High, according to The Detroit Free Press.

The Royal Oak School Board voted 12-0 to rename part of Willis Avenue after Frey and new signs are expected to go up by February 18.

Frey, 67, died on January 18 of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, was born in Detroit and grew up in Royal Oak.

He formed the Eagles with Don Henley in 1971 in Los Angeles and co-wrote most of the band's hits, including Hotel California and Take It Easy.
