The fight for No 1 on the Official Albums Chart is incredibly close this week as just 500 combined sales separate the top five records at the halfway point.

New indie group Blossoms saw their self-titled debut album easily hit the top spot last week, but they now have been pushed into second place by Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra’s All Over The World – The Very Best Of.

However, with ELO having just 230 combined sales over the Stockport rockers, the reformed 1970s progressive rock-pop group may not cling on to their early lead, the Official Charts Company said.

Last week, ELO’s compilation album was in fourth place on the charts after hitting the No 1 spot three weeks ago, following its original release 11 years ago.

Other artists vying for the top of the album charts this week include rapper Drake at No 3 with Views, Christine And The Queens at No 4 with Chaleur Humaine and Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Legend, which rebounded six places to hit the No 5 spot in the mid-week charts.

On the UK Singles Charts, Justin Bieber’s collaboration with Major Lazer and MO Cold Water is set for a fourth week at No 1.

The track’s main competition comes from Let Me Love You, a collaboration between Bieber and DJ Snake, although it will have to see a late surge as it is currently falling behind by 3,000 combined sales.

A new entry into the top five is The Chainsmokers’ new single Closer featuring Halsey, which has jumped from number 12 to No 4.

Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own has dropped down one place to No 3 and The Chainsmokers’ Don’t Let Me Down featuring Daya remains in the fifth spot.
