STONE Roses singer Ian Brown gave a Scots artist the seal of approval before his Hampden gig.

Airdrie's David Mcdonagh, 33 found out where the singer was staying and chanced his arm to show him some of his artwork including a painting of the star - and ended up being asked to create another one for the singer himself.

David, who gave up his job as a kitchen salesman to go full time as an artist two years ago, said: "I took with me a painting of him I'd been commissioned to do about six moths ago and showed it to Ian. He said he loved it and asked if I'd do one for him in the future."

Glasgow Times:

David who forgot his business cards is now hoping Ian will get in touch with him through social media. Having been asked to paint Gazza and other Rangers players as well as Robert Carlyle in the past, he added: "He's one of the nicest guys I have met. I'm a big fan of his solo music. He made sure he got my name and he signed the picture I took with me."

Later on the star took his family including his young son on a tour of Glasgow and headed to George Square and Buchanan Street where he bumped into some more fans.
