GLASGOW band White will perform at an award show in the city which celebrates the alternative music scene.

The Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs) will take place at The Garage on Thursday, October 12 and the five-piece will showcase songs from their debut album One Night Stand Forever.

The event, which will be hosted by new music champion Jim Gellatly, returns for an eighth year.

The award shortlist is decided by a panel of twenty one specialist music judges with a set criteria, the winners will then be decided by a short public vote and announced in October.

Awards Director Richy Muirhead said: "The SAMAs are the perfect platform to discover and showcase talent from all over Scotland across multiple genres.

"It's amazing looking back to seeing acts like Fatherson and The La Fontaines win – who are now selling out giant venues like The Barrowlands and touring extensively in the UK/EU.

"In a couple of weeks we'll release the nominations list which will highlight the high quality and creative talent Scotland has to offer in the music industry."
