FEROCIOUS Dog will be performing at Saint Lukes & The Winged Ox next week – and will be using the opportunity to collect donations of food and clothes to help the homeless.

Proudly political, Ferocious Dog are a full-on six-piece band that encompass folk infused with rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations.

The songs are deeply personal and resonate with their growing legion of loyal fans – known as Hell Hounds.

Fronted by ex-miner Ken Bonsall, Ferocious Dog are well known and popular for their high octane live performances.

They will be supported by Ayrshire band Losing Ground and Nick Parker.

The band use the opportunity at every gig to collect donations for homeless charities. It has been named the 'Food Drop'.

The Food Drop came about after the frontman’s son, Lee Bonsall, who was suffering with PTSD after serving in Afghanistan, committed suicide.

The Lee Bonsall Memorial Fund was created, and Ken and his wife Karen would go and set up soup kitchens and help the homeless. They discovered that many were ex-servicemen, living on the streets.

Ferocious Dog's gigs have now become a great platform to reach a wider audience for donations. Items collected next week will be given to Glasgow North East Foodbank.

Tamara, from Glasgow NE Foodbank, said: "Raising awareness of our service and the issues surrounding food poverty are vital to our work here.

"We try to do this in a variety of ways and this is an exciting way for others to get involved.

"Your support will ensure we can continue to support those experiencing food poverty in the East End of Glasgow.”

The gig will take place on Friday, April 6, doors open at 7pm. For more info and tickets, go to skiddle.com/e/13079542.
