THE Strange Blue Dreams are in the midst of a 10-date tour and will be making a pit stop in their hometown this weekend.
The Glasgow band will be performing at Oran Mor on Saturday.
Defined by soaring vocal harmonies, dance beats from New Orleans and the rhythm sections of RCA and the other great record labels of the mid 20th Century, the songs of singer and guitarist Dave Addison are brought to life by the band’s atmospheric arrangements.
The band shot the video for new song Twilight Zone at Cafe D'Jaconelli, a Glaswegian institution. In the late 1950's local rockers would congregate to hear the latest imported 45's and the deco chip shop stylings have been used in the likes of Tutti Frutti and Trainspotting.
About the track, Dave said: "It’s both the saddest hour and the most magical. The point between things, between waking and dreaming. We wanted to try [with this video] to get a sense of melancholy and longing for a different world".
Continuing the theme, scenes were also filmed in Swing, an art deco-styled basement cabaret venue in Hope Street.
The video also features the exceptional talents of one of Swing's regular acrobat performers, Jamie Lee McNaughton. Eagle-eyed Glaswegian pop pickers will also spot a cameo from Biff Smith of A New International.
