The majority of fans at the SSE Hydro were already in their seats by the time the clock struck 8pm - a rare sight for a Saturday night show.

But for fans of Harry Styles, some who had travelled all the way from Texas, every second in the presence of the star is precious.

London-based singer Mabel managed to bag herself one of best support slots going in opening the show.

The performer, who was nominated for a Brit Award earlier this year, is already making waves in the industry.

She beamed from ear to ear at the crowd’s response to her tracks Fine Line and hit Finders Keepers, but it was her performance of Coldplay’s Fix You which took her from R&B firecracker to a voice to be reckoned with.

Mr Styles finally appeared onstage, swapping his signature statement suit for a traditional Scottish kilt, twenty minutes later than expected.

The boyband heartthrob made his way through album tracks Only Angel and Woman backed by a live band, also dressed in kilts, proving just how far he’s come since his early career.

Fame hasn’t changed the Manchester-born performer who still has the very rare ability to charm a whole room, even the most of reluctant of audience members.

Stopping the show half way through, he demanded a ten-second silence in memory of the old Irn-Bru recipe - a sure fire way to please a Scottish crowd.

"How did they make it taste so good?!", he said before picking out a fan celebrating their 16th birthday and asking the crowd to join in a singalong.

After thanking the audience for coming off the back of just his 10 album tracks, he went on to perform a few crowd pleasers.

“I have one job and that is to entertain you”, he said and, as expected, that's what he did.

His music has matured but his talent had stayed the same. Whether he’s performing stripped back ballad Two Ghosts, putting a new spin on 1D classic ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, or introducing teeny-boppers to the magic of Fleetwood Mac, he is always entertaining.

Just six-months before his sold-out Hydro show, Harry had performed down the road the Armadillo. Where his career could go next is anyone’s guess but what is guaranteed is that he’ll always have a loyal fanbase.
