BEYONCE and Jay Z have been given the green-light to play in Hampden Park in June.

Glasgow City Council’s Licensing and Regulatory Committee discussed the application today (Wednesday).

Up to 700 stewards will man the event supported by a huge police and medical operation on June 9.

Hampden Park will be paying for a clean-up operation following more than 48,000 visiting the stadium.

Mount Florida Community Council filed a representation to the committee.

Chris Carus, chairman, said: “Our aim is to make the event day experience the best it can be for both fans and residents alike.

“We regularly make representations to the Licensing Committee on behalf of local residents.

“We have never objected to an event.

“We pass on insights provided by local residents that can then be addressed through license conditions or through the multi-agency event management group.”

It will be the second night of the husband-and-wife’s new tour On The Run II on June 9.

The gig will be the second night Beyoncé and Jay Z’s new tour, On The Run II.

The billionaire couple first toured together four years ago.

Standing tickets will cost £94.40 and seating, depending on what part of the stadium, between £29 and £230.

Fans will swamp Mount Florida in the south side of the gig next month.

The community council has been vocal before on the negative impacts on the community.

Earlier this year, it released a report claiming residents are increasingly distressed from gig goers and football supporters.

It called Stone Roses fans an “antisocial crowd” and tells how football fans have been urinating in the street hours before kick-off.

Brian Muir, operations and safety manager at Hampden Park, explained to the committee they will be working with the community.

He added: “Visitors information on our website contains asking guests to respect our neighbours.”
