X Factor star Alexandra Burke will headline this year's Glasgow BBC Proms in the Park.

The Hallelujah singer, who starred as Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard Musical at Glasgow's Kings Theatre earlier this year, will perform at the event in the Glasgow Green on September 12.

Alexandra will perform with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under conductor Stephen Bell.

Proms in the Park marks the culmination of the BBC Proms season, as the nation comes together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night. The Glasgow evening is hosted by tenor and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Jamie MacDougall who will encourage the audience to be part of the show and sing along to a variety of great tracks. There will also be the traditional live big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall for a family sing-along broadcast UK wide as part of BBC One's UK coverage of the Last Night of the Proms.

Donalda MacKinnon, BBC Scotland Head of Programmes, said: "Audiences are at the heart of everything we do and the Glasgow Proms audience are renowned for creating an atmosphere which makes this one of the most special evenings of the year."

Scotland's Proms in the Park is presented by BBC Scotland with support from Glasgow City Council.

Councillor Archie Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life and Depute Leader of Glasgow City Council, added: "Proms in the Park is one of the most eagerly anticipated events on Glasgow's Cultural Calendar. Every year it is an event that promises much and delivers even more for the thousands of people lucky enough to be at Glasgow Green and for the millions watching or listening as the Proms come to their unforgettable conclusion. It will be a night that will live long in the memory for everyone who goes to Proms in the Park."

Part one of the Glasgow Proms will be broadcast live on BBC Two Scotland from 7.15pm until 8.30pm, and will feature on Red Button throughout the evening. The whole evening will be live on BBC Radio Scotland and streamed online.
