Celebrities Marc Almond and Anita Dobson were among the performers at a HIV charity's Christmas concert.

Almond treated guests, which included children from St Monica's School, to two solo performances at the Midlmay event at St Botolph Without Aldgate church in London, while Dobson gave a witty Christmas-themed reading.

This year Mildmay has marked its move into a new purpose-built hospital in east London, which provids treatment and rehabilitation for people with HIV-related health issues.

Almond, who performed alongside the Diversity Choir, said: The work and legacy of the Mildmay has touched the lives of so many people living with HIV. The transformative effect, not only upon people with HIV but those around them, is extraordinary and enriching in so many ways."

Baritone Mark Llewelyn Evans and soprano Sally Harrison also gave solo performances and joined together for a rendition of Drummer Boy.

Kerry Reeves-Kneip, director of fundraising at Mildmay, said: "We were honoured to have such prestigious support and are so grateful all the artists who gave their time freely to perform so superbly in this joyful Christmas celebration for Mildmay.

"Dare we say we are already looking forward to an even bigger and better event next year."
