AMERICAN superstar Beyoncé is to play a New Year date at Glasgow's Hydro.

The singer has just announced new UK and Ireland dates for her Mrs Carter Show world tour.

The series of gigs will kick off at the city's SSE Hydro Arena on Thursday, February 20. Tickets will go on sale on Monday.

The star will then take in Birmingham and Manchester before four nights at London's O2 Arena and three at the O2 in Dublin.

The singer began the tour in Europe last April before heading to North America, South America and Australia, followed by another North American leg.

Beyoncé was a member of R'n'B girl-group Destiny's Child before her solo career kicked off with hit single Crazy In Love.

She was named Best Live Act at MTV's European Music Award last month.

The star, who is married to rapper Jay-Z and is mum to 22-month-old Blue Ivy, is currently working on her fifth studio album.
