SCOTTISH rockers Biffy Clyro have taken part in a music question-and-answer session at Glasgow University.

The band, which formed in Kilmarnock, appeared before an audience of 400 at the university's Queen Margaret Union.

They were at the Union for Radio 1's Academy aimed at teaching and inspiring young people.

the Academy took place in the lead up to Radio 1's Big Weekend at Glasgow Green.

The event, on May 23 and 24, will  include Coldplay, One Direction, Kings of Leon and Katy Perry.

As a prelude to the concert, urban music stars are heading to Glasgow for a one-off gig on the banks of the Clyde.

BBC Radio 1Xtra is bringing a host of big names from the music scene to the city tomorrow night to perform at the Riverside Museum.

Ahead of the Glasgow Green event, Radio 1Xtra's MistaJam, Charlie Sloth and DJ Target will perform alongside DJ Semtex and CJ Beatz.

They will be joined by DJ Fresh, Duke Dumont and Breach who between them have been responsible for nine top 10 hits, including four No 1 singles.

There will also be a second room inside the museum featuring special guests.

MistaJam said: "The line-up is not only massive but also made up of artists I've had the pleasure of supporting on 1Xtra since the early days of their careers.

"Plus, the Glaswegian crowd really knows how to party so it's going to be the perfect way to start the summer."
