COMING from the same town as Dutch dance heavyweights Hardwell and Tiesto, there is an expectation for Dannic to be Holland's next DJ superstar.

But climbing from number 74 in the DJ Mag top 100 DJs list to number 30 in just a year proves that Dannic is a forced to be reckoned with.

"I was so happy with my position last year, I climbed 44 positions from my poll debut in 2013 - any higher would be a bonus," explained the Breda native.

"Both Tiesto and Hardwell are two of the biggest DJs in the world but we each have our own sound which brings something different to the table.

"Hardwell has been a great figure in my career, especially in the early days.

"My first releases were on his Revealed Recordings imprint which I still release new music on today.

"So it's great to have the support of someone who is not only a great producer and DJ who I have a respect for, but who I can also call a friend."

The 27-year-old first came on to the scene as DJ Funkadelic until his breakthrough track Doster put him on the world stage where he became known as Dannic.

Since his debut, Dannic has topped the bill on every major dance music festival from Tomorrowland to Ultra Music festival - and now he will be playing Coloursfest at Glasgow's Braehead Arena on Saturday, June 6.

He will join the likes of Steve Aoki, Showtek, Headhunterez and Will Sparks, and he admits he can wait to perform in Scotland again having previously played The Arches.

He said: "I can't wait. It's going to be huge.

"Scotland has one of the best reactions to play to live.

"I hope to catch a few other acts who are playing too.

"It's cool to be playing alongside Steve Aoki too."

The producer, whose real name is Daan Romers, will be looking forward to performing to a Scottish crowd.

He said: "The Scots party hard, they are crazy and always up for it.

"I'm hoping the Coloursfest crowd will be one of the biggest and best."

And that same crowd can expect a top set from the man who is known for his mash-ups.

He said his set would have, "Some new exclusives, lots of anthems to get the party started and a few signature Dannic mash-ups."

He added: "Hope to see you at the front."

Dannic admits he is still inspired by his contemporaries especially the emerging talent with dance music.

He said: "I admire the work ethic of Hardwell and my peers around me.

"Amazing producers doing exciting things and taking the genre to new heights.

"In terms of new artists I'm really loving Swedish producer Mydo, I chose his anthem Push on my second Dannic Selection EP along with Tom and Jame, also names to look out for.

"Their remix of my track with Shermanology Wait For You has to be one of my favourites of the year, it always goes off."

The electro house maestro has just released new single Fonk which is likely to feature in his Coloursfest set - thanks to the reaction he has been getting from fans.

He said: "My new track is Fonk. I've been opening all my sets with recently, and the fans have been going bananas for it. I previewed the track out in Korea and then again in Florida - I have no doubt Scotland are ready to match the energy."

Although his career is still in its infancy, Dannic likes to think his producing will continue if he hangs up his headphones.

He said: "I like to think I'm equally passionate about both djing and producing.

"I love djing - the reaction from the crowd, visiting all these amazing new places and meeting brilliant new people but you can only DJ for so long.

"I want to be able to take my music all over the world for as long as I can - but when I'm 80?

"I hope to still be producing in my studio in one capacity or another, even if the live djing is long over by then."

But for now he hopes to work on his biggest project yet - a debut album.

He said: "I've been very lucky in being able to play all over the world and have releases including my latest Mayday which went to number one on the Beatport charts.

"I'd love to do the same with a debut album of mine in the future - take it to the top."
