DRUMMER Mince Fratelli led the charge at the official opening of Glasgow's Hard Rock Cafe.

Hundreds of fans gathered in Buchanan Street to watch him smash one of five guitars ahead of the star-studded Grand Opening party.

Glasgow City Council leader Gordon Matheson, Glasgow Hard Rock Cafe general manager Jo Wilke, president and chief executive office of Hard Rock International Hamish Dodds, and Rita Gilligan, the company's longest-serving waitress, showed their rock star spirit in the traditional Hard Rock guitar smash, which officially opens every cafe, casino and hotel owned by the chain.

The first 100 lucky fans queuing outside the cafe were given access to the party to see The Fratellis play, followed by a DJ set from John Mcinally.

They got to rub shoulders with the likes of singer/songwriter Amy MacDonald and comic Karen Dunbar.
