Rock veteran Iggy Pop, one of the pioneers of punk, has been chosen to deliver an annual BBC lecture in honour of the late broadcaster John Peel.
The former Stooges frontman is to air his thoughts on the subject of "free music in a capitalist society" during his speech next month.
He follows figures such as Pete Townshend, Billy Bragg and Charlotte Church in delivering the John Peel Lecture.
