JUSTIN Timberlake and rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis headed the nominations as the shortlist for the MTV European Music Awards were announced.
Both acts are up for five awards at the event, in Amsterdam in November.
Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber,and Robin Thicke each compete for four prizes, as does Miley Cyrus, who caused a stir with a raunchy routine at MTV's Video Music Awards last month.
