Labrinth is set to light up Glasgow ahead of the MTV EMAs with a ground-breaking new project.

The international singer and producer has teamed up with MTV and the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to create a unique 3D video mapping light show that will put the City Chambers in the spotlight.

The light show, which will be choreographed to Labrinth's latest track Let It Be, will premiere in George Square on Friday, November 7 at 7pm and will be replayed once an hour until midnight. It will also be shown on Saturday, November 8 from 4pm until 11pm.

It is the first time that the new light show technique has been used in a music video.

Labrinth said: "When I was thinking of coming back I decided I wanted to make every performance, every show, every music video as extreme as it could be. This video is a way of saying to my Scottish fans, 'I'm back, let's do this.'"

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has been working with MTV for 10 months on the development of this world-exclusive 3D video mapping project and I’m delighted that we can make this exciting announcement today.

"The City Chambers and the Finnieston Crane are two of Glasgow’s most iconic landmarks and this ground-breaking projection activity will bring them both to life like never before while showcasing the city to MTV’s global TV and social media audiences.

"It will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of what is shaping up to be an incredible week leading up to the show and further reinforces Glasgow’s cutting-edge music credentials and our reputation as a world-class city with a hugely ambitious and innovative events industry.”

Labrinth will also be taking part in the MTV Breaks pop-up, performing an intimate acoustic session at St Judes on Bath Street and answer questions on the music industry.

The session, which is for over 18s only, runs from 1pm to 2.15pm on Saturday, November 8. Tickets are available from the MTV Voices website on a first come, first served basis.

Meanwhile, students from The Glasgow School of Art are being given the chance to be a part of the excitement by putting their own creative spin on a series of animated MTV logos that will become part of the show.

Glaswegians should also keep their eyes on the Finnieston Crane on the day of the EMAs (Sunday, November 9) from 4pm as it's given the light projection treatment by the MTV team.

Ahead of the show, which takes place at the Hydro on Sunday, November 9, MTV has also announced the 10 acts nominated for its Worldwide act award.

After seven weeks and three stages of voting, the 286 acts originally nominated for the award have been whittled down to 10, with One Direction representing North Europe.
