Olly Murs has revealed he told Simon Cowell he would only think about replacing Dermot O'Leary as host of The X Factor if Caroline Flack joined him on the show.
The singer, who found fame when was runner-up on the show in 2009, said there was "no way" he would do the job on his own.
Murs, who previously hosted spin-off show The Xtra Factor with Flack, told The Sun: "The only way I would even think or talk about it would be if Caroline was doing it with me because me and Caroline were great together."
O'Leary announced he was leaving the hit talent show last week, saying it was "time for me to move on".
The star, who has been a mainstay of the hit ITV talent show for eight years and also presents a show on Radio 2, thanked show supremo Cowell.
He said: "After eight wonderful years on The X Factor it's time for me to move on. I'd like to thank ITV, Simon, The X Factor family and particularly the viewers, all of whom have been a big part of my life for so long.
"I'd like to wish the team all the best for the future, especially whoever takes over from me. You're about to be the conductor on the most brilliant, runaway train in showbiz. Good luck you'll love it!"
