Verdict: Four Stars.

Musical theatre just moved beyond Broadway thanks to pop quartet Il Divo.

The hunky multinational operatic pop vocal group brought some slick style to the musical classics when their tour rolled into Glasgow's SSE Hydro tonight.

Made up of French pop singer Sebastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marin, American tenor David Miller and Swiss tenor Urs Buhler, Il Divo hit all the right notes for their legions of female fans.

Charmer Carlos played to his adoring crowd by saying, "How many beautiful ladies are in here tonight? You look better than all the other years. Your like a fine wine."

And with that love note to the crowd the show really got underway.

A Spanglish version of the Lion King's Can You Feel the Love Tonight? was simply stunning as Il Divo stamped their trademark sound on the Elton John classic.

The group also did the unthinkable by giving a jaw dropping performance of the Wizard's of Oz's Somewhere Over the Rainbow - and I'm pretty sure everyone in the Hydro spaceship had goosebumps.

The night wasn't all about the ladies however as husbands dragged to the concert by their wives suddenly woke up when Tony Award winner Lea Salonga appeared on stage - in case you didn't know she was the original singing voice of Jasmine in Aladdin's Whole New World, which she sang with Il Divo during the show.

The beauty was a standout star throughout the show with her Cats' Memories duet with the boys showing off her incredible voice.

It was, however, when she sang Wicked's Defying Gravity that she really showed off her musical prowess.

The appreciative group took time throughout the show to thank the fans for their support with Sebastien paying tribute to Scotland's very own Lorraine Kelly for supporting the group from the very start of their career.

The musical theatre education continued with performances of Les Miserables I Dreamed A Dream, Evita's Don't Cry for me Argentina and Mamma Mia's The Winner Take It All.

The boys might have been around for the last decade but their pop opera spin on different music genres will always be a winner - I think 26 million album sales worldwide says it all.

My Way and Time to Say Goodbye were the perfect encores to the show.

I do, however, wonder what Il Divo will do next now that they have mastered the musicals.
