This Feeling- Tijuana Bibles

Launched in October 2006 indie club night 'This Feeling' has exploded into an unstoppable musical wave and has played host to some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Described as being:"Like a colossal club night" by the godfather of British rock himself Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno of Kassabian quoted as saying the night was:"Like a mad 60s carnival"

The experience, born in London, has since gone international hosting club nights as far afield as Milan and the Benicassim music festival in Barcelona.

In addition to this 'This Feeling' has descended on every major city-and sometimes obscure towns- in the UK since its inception.

The return to Glasgow on the 20th March will see city based band Tijuana Bibles top the bill at Broadcast on Sauchiehall Street.

Supported by Sonic Heart Foundation, The Van Ts and TNFS, Tijuana Bibles front man, Tony Costello promises attendees that the show will prove that the band are on the verge of greatness thanks to a seismic shift in musical taste from the public.

Costello said:"I would put what we do head-to-head with any Mumford and Sons type band any day.

"Its natural we just crank it up, and that's what we do it. It's just a natural thing that we do."

The band may only be two years old, but already they have taken the Glasgow music scene by storm and are currently embarking on a nationwide tour that has seen them visit Perth, Aberdeen and London.

This will see them follow this by playing in Edinburgh, Leicester and Manchester.

Despite enjoying life on the road the band insist that there's no place like home-or no crowds that can rival their home city, Costello explains:" Glasgow crowds know when a band is 100% all in.

"They feed off the energy of the band; give it back and the some!

"They're thirsty for it, just like we are, and it's reflected in the performance.

"They are as big a part of the show as we are and can make a good show great and a great show astronomical!

This natural, raw element to the bands DNA is typical of what's bubbling beneath in the undercurrent of the Glasgow music scene as more and more bands are churning out a more rock based, punk like sound and Costello has a message to the authorities, he said:

"Its Thatcher's Britain man! Obviously that's a bit tongue in cheek but I do think that people are getting quite angry about things and if people have a catalyst-like seeing a show like ours- then I don't mind being a vehicle for people's anger if that's what they want."

Despite this anarchic attitude Tijuana Bibles come across as being articulate and well informed young men.

In addition to this the band proved how humble and accommodating they can be, by visiting the home of a young fan and playing some songs for the lad and his family at the smallest venue they have played to date-the boys living room.

"It had sort of been in the works for like six/seven months," explains Guitarist James Brannigan.

Costello added:" He had mailed us to ask if we were playing Belladrum(festival) and at that stage we were still unsure.

"So we decided that if we didn't play Belladrum then we would contact the wee guy's mum, keep it hush-hush and nip round to his house and play him a few tunes.

"It transpired that we played and we met him there but he sent us another mail and asked if we done any under-18 shows.

The kind hearted gesture of a surprise visit to the lad's house didn't quite have the effect that the band had hoped for.

"We didn't realise that all of these cousins and relative would be there. There were all these wee lassies there that started running away and hysterically crying to their mothers when we started playing.

"And all the time I'm thinking 'I'm not a bad man' as we were playing."

The sight of the leather-clad rockers may have been too much for the under-10s of the boy's family but it's proving a hit with the likes of fellow musicians like Glasvegas and The View.

The event will also see a variety of DJs perform sets on the night.
