IT'S not every day that you get to headline a celebration of one of Scotland's best loved-and well known- music venues, but Vigo Thieves is no ordinary band.

Sunday will see the celebrations for King Tut's 25th anniversary, kicked-off by Ryan Bingham, with Vigo Thieves on stage on Saturday February 21.

This will see the band continue with the mammoth party from the likes of Fatherson and The Cribs.

2014 saw them crowned the first-ever unsigned band to sell out two nights at the Glasgow venue which coincided with the band being the only independent to have played T in the Park consecutively.

Frontman Stevie Jukes recalled the heady heights of last year's performances at 'Tut's' and described his feelings about the venue.

He said: "It would probably be my favourite gig of last year.

"We've played King Tuts a good few times and were the first unsigned band to play two sold out nights consecutively so it has a special place in our hearts.

"We can't wait to get back to playing an intimate show."

King Tut's has of course already secured its place in British music industry folklore, having been the place where Alan McGee first spotted Oasis before signing the band and the rest, as they say, is history.

A quarter of a century is a milestone for any birthday and the venue has unleashed a top line-up to celebrate in style-with Vigo Thieves a highlight.

The band, which hails from Wishaw, takes its name from a granddad who robbed a train in his native Vigo in Spain -hence the name.

Not content with breaking the above records, Vigo Thieves also had one of their songs adopted by the Scottish national football team as the anthem for the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

'Believe' became the anthem after a personal recommendation from team manager Gordon Strachan and the 'Thieves' stole the show as they performed on the pitch in front of a packed Celtic Park before the Scotland v Ireland match.

"It was the highlight of our year to be honest," Stevie said.

"Something that we'll never forget and that we're very proud of."

In addition to this the band played a nationwide tour, culminating in a sell-out show at the ABC in Glasgow, and this support from fans has not gone unnoticed by the band.

Stevie explained: "The ABC show was amazing again.

"We can't thank the fans enough for coming out in such high number for an unsigned band. It's pretty astounding really."

With more in the pipeline this coming year the band have recently just finished recording new single 'Forever' with the help of a familiar face for fans of hit TV series Shameless.

Actor Jody Letham - who played 'Lip' Gallagher in the show - makes a cameo appearance in the video of the single, a pairing that could raise a few eyebrows, but Stevie laughed off suggestions of this,

He said: "Ha ha, we got introduced by a mutual friend and he really liked the band so we asked him to star in our video and he said no bother.

"He was a really cool guy and did a fantastic job."

Furthermore the boys show no signs of slowing down anytime soon this year.

He added: "We keep progressing and everything is falling into place.

"We have a plan that's working and all the hard work is paying off.

"We might pop in and see The Courteeners.

"We went on tour with them last year and they were brilliant guys and really kind to us. Amazing live too."

Vigo Thives promise not to disappoint and Stevie recalled some of the madness when quizzed about the craziest situation whilst on tour last year:

"Craziest situation," he said.

"If you go on tour with our bass player then you have too many to count."

Doors open at 20:30 for the gig and tickets are priced at £12.50.
