Former One Direction star Zayn Malik could be cooking up a new career - after his fiancee Perrie Edwards revealed he is spending his free time in the kitchen.

The singer, who shocked the boyband's fans when he quit in March, got engaged to the Little Mix star two years ago.

Edwards told the Sun: "It's nice to see more of him now. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen, he's a great chef."

She also revealed her career - the band have a new single out - is getting in the way of the pair tying the knot.

She said: "Me and Zayn want it to be perfect, so as soon as I have a bit of time, we'll plan it. I doubt it will be this summer."

Malik flew home from the boyband's world tour with "stress" before suddenly quitting the group, saying he wanted to be a "normal 22-year-old".

One Direction have insisted they will go on without Malik and fans will get the chance to see the four-piece perform at Capital's Summertime Ball in London's Wembley Stadium next month.

It will be their first London date as a four-piece.

One Direction's On The Road Again tour kicks off in Cardiff next month.

Weekend reports allege that Malik was being lined up as a judge for the X Factor.

But his rep has been quoted as denying the allegations, calling them "a complete fabrication".
