Liam Neeson will star as an ancient tree monster when his new film A Monster Calls premieres at the BFI London Film Festival tonight.
Neeson appears opposite Sigourney Weaver in the new film by The Impossible director JA Bayona, based on the novel by Patrick Ness.
In the film a young boy, played by Pan star Lewis MacDougall, seeks the help of Neeson’s monster to cope with his single mother’s terminal illness.
The film also stars The Theory Of Everything actress Felicity Jones and Warcraft star Toby Kebbell.
Bayona, who is already signed up to helm the upcoming Jurassic World sequel, is expected to walk the red carpet at the Odeon in Leicester Square for the gala premiere, as well as stars Weaver and MacDougall.
Another film premiering at the festival on Thursday is Moonlight, the story of a young black man’s journey from childhood to adulthood in a rough neighbourhood of Miami.
Skyfall star Naomie Harris is due to attend the premiere, as well as the film’s lead Trevante Rhodes, singer Janelle Monae and director Barry Jenkins.
