Comedian Joel Dommett has placed second in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! finale.

Scarlett Moffatt was crowned queen of the jungle.

His last task saw him having to face a hideous food trial in which he had to eat a goat’s penis and testicles over a New York cheesecake with a fruit compote, his favourite pudding, a choice that had him so upset he resorted to sniffing the delicious looking pudding.

“I’ve never come second in anything,” he said, “I’m so excited.”

He praised Scarlett and said: “She’s the best human being I’ve ever met she’s so fantastic. I’m happy to call you a friend.”

Talking to hosts Ant and Dec after leaving the jungle he said: “I knew it was going to be a good experience but I didn’t expect it to be this much of a good experience. I didn’t know the highs would be so high and the lows so low. It’s just been incredible.”

Asked what he would miss, he said: “Yeah I think I’m going to miss just the simplicity of this and I think we talk a lot about how scary it is in the outside world – with news and social media – it’s so simple in there.”

He admitted the first trial he had to face, which involved walking on a plank high in the air, was the toughest.

He admitted: “I think the first one was definitely the hardest. It was just, I took two steps in and that was the closet I came the whole show to saying I need to stop this. It helped for rest of the experience, that feeling of taking two steps and saying just do it. I’ll use that for the rest of my life.”

All of the campmates got on famously and Joel acknowledged he liked to keep the peace in the camp.

“You deal with so much, the hunger, the fear of the trials and just the tiredness and just being away from your family but if I had to deal with people arguing camp as well I wouldn’t have been able to do it. If I felt like any arguments or unrest (was coming)… I felt like I was a UN ambassador,” he said.

Last year’s show was won by Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison.
